The First Month

It's about a month since I placed my first advert in When Saturday Comes - the point at which The People's History of Football series went from being an idea in my head to a reality. I had no idea what to expect, all I could do was cross my fingers and watch my in-box.

When the emails started coming through, I realised that there are quite a few people who have had similar experiences to myself: those who would like to write a book; those who have written a book and not sure what's next; those who decided to use a self-publishing service; and someone who had self-published independently as I had (www.blacklinepress.com if you want to have a look).

What's more there are some really interesting projects that people are working on. There's potentially a book about Newcastle United's 2008/9 relegation in the pipeline (plenty to write about there!), whilst elsewhere in the pyramid a local writer is following Hinckley United in the Blue Square Premier League.

Aside from club based books, I've also been asked about books from a coaching / sports science angle and an idea based around officials. All great ideas that could be exciting to develop.

All the factual information about how the project works is on the main site www.peopleshistoryoffootball.co.uk and I'll be keeping you updated with any developments and news here. If you have any ideas or just a general query or enquiry, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Bye for now!
